LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Dear Sir,

I feel I must reply to Elain Wilson (Letters, January 8) and her assertion that I have "a problem with children".

Children are rarely a problem: it's the parents who are almost always to blame.

Ms Wilson doesn't seem to understand the simple financial equation which means that free bus rides have to be paid for either by subsidy from the public purse or by higher fares.

And she regards words such as "brood" and "offspring" to be sneering.

I can only hope that Ms Wilson's bias against numeracy and literacy do not blight the lives of her children.

Sincerely,

John Eoin Douglas
