LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Dear Sir,

ILL WIND

The UK Border Agency has done a great service to the people of Scotland in their refusal to allow members of the Lahore Pipe Band into the UK to perform at a bagpipe competition in Glasgow.

We have no need to add a further thirty Pakistani pipers to Scotland's already unfortunately large number of indigenous practitioners of this barbaric, unpleasantly loud and totally non melodic "instrument".

If only the quietly spoken and refined Northumbrian pipes were to be heard in their stead, Scotland would be a calmer and more pleasant place.

Sincerely,

John Eoin Douglas

  3. Here here. Like Scotland is sooooo short of pipers that we need some Pakis to add to the skirling racket. Those pipers would be working in The Lahore Happy Palace quicker than you culd say " hoots mon the noo Abdul gies twa 23 's and a poppadom"
