Dear Sir/Madam,

THE MISERY OF ALCOHOL

One can understand Trades Unions attempting to protect the jobs of their members at Diageo's threatened whisky plants. But the Scottish Government, hitherto to be applauded for its anti alcohol policies, really should rethink its support for keeping these enterprises open.

In several States of the USA, "Johnnie Walker" is a much used term for an alcoholic. Are the jobs of a few Scottish workers really more important than stopping the misery caused by their antisocial products?

Sincerely,

John Eoin Douglas
